Red Stringer would belong on every Canadian stage, if only he weren’t so weird.
Born in the USSR, he has spent decades in folk, rock, and blues projects first in Eastern Europe and then in Canada and the USA. During the pandemic shutdowns, Red took a deep introspective look at his career and decided that he was ready to strike out on his own.
Stringer developed his new material and started performing at open mics and indie art shows in Southern Ontario, honing his unique style and artistry. People who found themselves at one of the Red Stringer’s shows were enchanted with his dirty Slavic accordion blues, poetry recitals over banjo rolls, and odd romantic ballads accompanied by parlour guitar pickings.
Red Stringer’s music is recommended for the fans of Lead Belly, Tom Waits, and Gogol Bordello.
